Your Gift Keeps Indiana's Artistic Heritage Alive

Where Your Gift Goes

Gifts to the Haan Museum go directly to the people, programs, and preservation efforts that make everything possible. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and every dollar donated is tax deductible to the extent permitted by law — consult your tax advisor for details.

There is no minimum gift. Whether you give $25 or $25,000, your contribution matters. The Haan has no endowment to fall back on and no operating subsidy from government sources. Donations are among the most direct and impactful ways to ensure the museum remains open, the collection remains cared for, and the programs we offer to students and communities across Indiana continue to grow.

Day-to-Day Operations

The most immediate and flexible use of donations is supporting daily operations — staffing, utilities, insurance, and the countless costs of keeping a 16,000-square-foot historic mansion open to the public. Unrestricted gifts to the general operating fund are the most valuable contribution most donors can make.

Building, Grounds, and Collection Preservation

The Haan Mansion is one of only 15 surviving buildings from the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair. Maintaining and restoring it — alongside preserving a collection that includes over 100 paintings, more than 1,000 ceramic works, rare antique furniture, and monumental sculpture — requires sustained, dedicated investment. Gifts to the preservation fund support this work directly.

Education Programs

From K-12 field trips and the STEAM summer camp to the Visual Bridges literacy initiative and community outreach events, education programming at the Haan reaches hundreds of students and community members each year. Targeted gifts to the education fund support program development, teaching materials, and the educators who make these experiences possible.

Sculpture Garden and Grounds

The free outdoor sculpture garden — which welcomes visitors every day from dawn to dusk at no charge — requires year-round maintenance, horticulture, and conservation of the 27 sculptures along its accessible path. Gifts to the garden fund support this work.
